March is Women’s History Month. It is so important to remember how hard women have worked to get us to where we are today, especially now! And, since I am still decorating my She Shed, I thought I would make a simple (and affordable) stick sign with one of my favorite quotes. It is the perfect Women’s History Month DIY project, and it looks amazing in my shed.
Women’s History Month
Women’s History Month began in California in 1978 as Women’s History Day, and eventually became a month-long international celebration of women.
I chose a quote from the famous poet, Mary Oliver. Her work earned her a Pulitzer Prize and a National Book Award for Poetry. She was a gifted writer that was inspired by nature and authors Whitman and Thorough.

I love typeset art and quotes. So, when I saw some stick poems for sale recently, I was drawn to them. However, their price deterred me. But, I kept thinking about them and decided to make my own.
I found some craft sticks at the Dollar Tree, and I grabbed a few. I knew they would be perfect for stick poems. Then, I painted them white and set them aside until I came up with the perfect quote to fit on the 2×18″ sticks.
Then, I saw this quote by Mary Oliver and I *had to use it to make my first stick poem. You can find the SVG in the shop here. Use the code PRECIOUSLIFE to download it FREE.
As with all of my signs, I made this one with HTV and my EasyPress Mini. Check out this DIY Oversized Sign post for step-by-step instructions for sign-making.
