Simple DIY Party Hats
My husband and I joke that I have an uncanny ability to host a party when the things I want for the party are totally unavailable. Inevitably, the things I need for the party are available about a month after the party. Because of this, I tend to make a LOT of my party decor and supplies.
Party hats are one thing I can never seem to find for my parties is a proper party hat. Thankfully, I whip up a hat in no time with my Cricut.
Easily make party hats!
Each party hat takes about 3 minutes to put together, including cut time. You will need to allow for more time to embellish the hats, if you want to add more to the hats. One 12×12 sheet of paper is enough to make one standard sized party hat.
Supplies:
Ribbon
Optional; embellishments
Step 1:
Prepare a standard grip cutting mat with a a sheet of 12×12 paper.
Step 2:
Open this cut file and send the project to cut. Be sure to select the proper cutting material.
Step 3:
Remove the hat from the cutting mat, and discard the excess paper.
Step 4:
Roll the hat into a cone, and secure with hot glue.
Step 5:
Cut two 8″ lengths of ribbon for each hat. {You can adjust the length if needed} Secure the ribbon to the hat by threading one end through each hole. Tie a knot in the end that is inside the hat, and add a dab of glue to hold it in place.
Step 6:
Embellish as desired. For this party, I used several different colored polka dots and stuck them on to the hat after I ran them through my Xyron machine. Then, I hot glued a yarn pom pom to the tops.
I used the same cut file to create fun iridescent party hats for my Cotton Candy Party too. But, before I cut the hats, I covered a sheet of card stock with Cricut’s iridescent vinyl, and then cut the hats out.
