Practical Joke Party. Did you all know that August 16th is Tell a Joke Day? I had no idea…but, what a fun{ny} day to celebrate! Living in a house with four boys, jokes are a constant thing in our house, they have gone from made up jokes, to tame jokes, and now the boys are all teen and tweenage, they are a tad more…umm, gross. But, I still love lame jokes…So, when the opportunity presented itself for me to host a joke party, I jumped at it!
I set up the party in front of a brick wall with my letter board and a silly chicken joke and fake dead chicken propped up against it. I layered a long plastic carnival style table skirt on a book shelf to look like a ruffled table skirt. I used a simple ribbon to string Groucho Marx style glasses across the front of the shelf as a fun alternative to traditional bunting.
My vintage style popcorn machine was dressed with a fun top hat, and filled with delicious popcorn for the party. Since we weren’t having a big party, I used a gorgeous fake cake from Confection Deception. My classic gum ball machine was filled with colorful gum balls and flanked with red buckets full of fun!
The party favors were grab and go fun. Oriental Trading Company had everything I needed for this party! Of course I had to have disappearing ink, removable thumbs, snakes in cans, and whoopee cushions for the party guests! (And my youngest son’s teacher is THRILLED to get the left overs for her class treasure box!)
We had so much fun at our tell a joke party! I think we will make it an annual tradition.
What’s your favorite joke?
