During the Summer months you will find us out back on our party deck or in the pool. It’s too hot to cook inside, so we grill out. We grill out, a lot! One of our favorite family dinners is smokey barbecue ribs. We cook them low and slow with a delicious dry rub. We’ve made pork ribs four times already this month, and we have declared them to be the best bbq ribs ever!
Find the Perfect Cut
We have found that Smithfield Extra Tender Fresh Pork Ribs are the secret weapon for perfect ribs every time. Smithfield Extra Tender Fresh Pork Ribs are hand trimmed, tender and juicy with no added hormones or steroids. Fresh pork from Smithfield® is more tender and juicy, so you are sure to have the most delicious ribs around, even if you’re not a pit boss!
We like to buy our Smithfield Extra Tender Fresh Pork Ribs from our local Walmart store. I love the ability to make a grocery order on my phone and pick it up at my convenience. Y’all, I ordered my Smithfield Extra Tender Fresh Pork Ribs and the rest of my dinner supplies in my bed in my jammies and picked everything up the next morning!

Fire up the Grill
We use a hardwood charcoal grill, we’ve had it for years, and it still grills to absolute perfection!
We fire up the grill, and while we wait for the coals to get to about 300*. While we wait, we prep the Smithfield Extra Tender Fresh Pork Spareribs. Prepping them couldn’t be any easier, we cut the rack to fit our grill surface, and sprinkle our homemade dry rub on both sides. Next, we place our Smithfield Extra Tender Fresh Pork Spareribs on the grill and close the lid. The Smithfield Extra Tender Fresh Pork Spareribs will slowly cook, and develop a sweet, savory crust from the dry rub. Let them cook for 3-4 hours, rotating them every 45-60 minutes.
At this point the meat should be separating from the bone. Remove the Smithfield Extra Tender Fresh Pork Spareribs and place them on a serving tray and allow to cool some.
Serve The Best BBQ Ribs
Everyone that has had our Smithfield Extra Tender Fresh Pork Spareribs says they are hands down the very best barbecue ribs they have ever eaten.
We serve ours with fresh cut watermelon and grilled corn on the cob. We surprised our neighbors with a tray of smokey delicious Smithfield Extra Tender Fresh Pork Spareribs, grilled corn, fresh watermelon, and a bottle or Liberty Creek Wine. They have asked when we will be grilling again so they can be sure to be home.
