St. Patrick’s Day Shake. We hosted a fun St. Patrick’s Day party this week, and one of the activities for the kiddos was making their own St. Patrick’s Day Shakes. One of my most fond memories from my childhood was getting a few dollars in the mail from my Mimi to go get a shamrock shake. My kiddos don’t really like the fast food St. Patrick’s Day shakes, so I gathered some supplies and had them make their own. Before the party, I gathered some clear plastic cups with lids and rainbow colored paper straws from Party City. I love keeping those cups on hand, they are so easily customized to match any party theme. I used my Cricut to cut out some simple green vinyl shamrocks, and I asked my son to stick them on the cups.
After the kids arrived at the party, we played a few shamrock games, and then finished setting up the Leprechaun Trap. Since a leprechaun can’t visit when the kids are around, we all went into the kitchen to make St. Patrick’s Day shakes. The kids had a blast crushing the Mint Oreos. We added some cream, the crushed Oreos, and some mint chocolate chip ice cream to the blender and mixed it for until it was all well blended. The adults poured the shakes into the shamrock cups, and the kids added whipped cream and gold sprinkles. The lids and straws were added and the kiddos went back to the party to discover the leprechaun trap had gone off, but there was no gold, no leprechaun, and the rainbow candy was GONE! Crazy how that happened, huh? The kids were freaking out looking all over for that sneaky leprechaun, but he was long gone!
Be sure to check out the Rainbow Leprechaun Hunt Party, and come back tomorrow for the more adult friendly version of the St. Patrick’s Day Shake!
