Salted Caramel Chocolate Pecan Pie Recipe

Salted Caramel Chocolate Pecan Pie Recipe

Well, y’all, Derby Week is coming, and while I won’t be hosting a Derby Party this year, I will be making ALL the Salted Caramel Chocolate Pecan Pies. These pies are the perfect spring time dessert, and they are oven ready in just minutes! Similar to a  Derby Pie, it’s baked in a pastry crust with chocolate chips and pecans, but I add a splash of Jackson Morgan Cream Salted Caramel Liqueur. The recipe is easy-peasy and is just about fool proof. In fact, I made two on Saturday alone.

This review is based strictly on my opinion.  Others may have a different opinion or experience with the product listed above.  I was provided the sample free of charge by the company or PR agency and I provided my honest opinion. I was not compensated in any other way for this review.

What is a Derby Pie?

The Kern Family made the first Derby Pies in the 1950’s. The Derby Pie Recipe is a family secret, that just a few people know. But, one thing is for sure, they own the name and the recipe for the official Derby Pies. And, I would love to have the original version some day!

The Derby pie got it’s name after the creators pulled names from a hat. It is a chocolate and pecan tart baked in a pastry dough, and is one of the quintessential desserts of the Kentucky Derby.
