Since my boys are bigger now, their Valentine’s Day goodies will be food and gift cards. And, since we are also celebrating a BIG birthday this week, I wanted to make some Easy Valentine’s Day Treats for them.
Valentine’s Day Desserts
We never really do anything big for Valentine’s Day. Typically, my hubby makes my favorite dinner, and I make a delicious dessert for everyone.
Our favorite Valentine’s Day recipe was for the Chocolate Caramel Cream Lava Cake. But, the boys loved the Amazing Shake Recipe too!
Easy Valentine Dessert
Our second son turns 16 on 2/13, so I wanted to make a really simple treat for the guys. And, there isn’t anything much easier than Rice Krispie Treats.
I know my guys would have been thrilled to have a pan of yummy RKTs. But, I wanted them to have a little Valentine’s Day flair.
Heart Shaped Desserts
These were SO easy to make. I made a batch of RKT while the boys were at school and work.
Once they set, I took them out of the tray and put them on a cutting board. Then, I used a heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out several heart shaped valentines sweets.
Next, I removed the excess Rice Krispie Treats and set the pieces aside.
I was able to get 6 large sized hearts from one tray of RKTs. I left them on the cutting board, and drizzled them with pink candy melts. When I just want to drizzle candy melts onto treats, I put a handful of melts in a sandwich baggie, and heat them up. Then, I snip off the tip of the bag and drizzled the candy melts on the treats. This is a fun way to make chocolate covered pretzels too. Finally, before the candy melts hardened, I sprinkled Valentine’s Day candies on top.
