Easter Snack Recipe. Many years ago, well before I had kids, I was a pre-school teacher and after care teacher. I enjoyed the work, but, it wasn’t what I wanted to do for a long time. Once I got married, and had our oldest son, my husband and I decided I would stay at home with the kids. Until just a few years ago, I had spent 11 years at home with a child in diapers or at the pre-school age. All of the boys are in school full time now, and it’s kind of bittersweet. But, for fun last night, I had the kids make their own dessert. I got some groans, and some side eye looks from the teens, but, guess what? They made it and loved it!I prepped the dessert ahead of time, but you could certainly have the little kids help. I made instant chocolate pudding, and crushed some Oreo cookies. I scooped a small amount of cookies into the bottom of larger plastic Easter eggs to fill the tiny holes.
Next, I scooped some pudding into the eggs, and set an egg into paper egg cartons from Target. I used mini muffin liners to hold more crushed Oreos and some “Carrot Seed” sprinkles from The Baker’s Party Shop. The kids added their “seeds and dirt” to the eggs before dinner and we put the trays back into the fridge while we ate. While the boys cleared the table, the hubs and I added fun chocolate carrots from Oriental Trading Company to the eggs. We brought the boys their desserts and they {again} gave us the side eye, and kinda snickered at us…but, they ate it and laughed and talked about all the fun treats we have made together over the years. It was a super fun dessert or snack to make and enjoy, and it was something kids of all ages can help prepare!
