Are you ready for Father’s Day? We usually hang out in the back yard, splashing in the pool, and playing games in the yard. And, try as I might, I can rarely get my husband to hand over the cooking duties…unless I make pulled pork. So this year we hosted a fun and early Father’s Day BBQ!
Since I knew what food I wanted to serve, I used that as my starting point for decor. I knew I had seen fun BBQ prints and bottle koozies on Zazzle recently, so that was my first stop (and only stop) for party decor. I ordered a half a dozen Chillin and Grillin koozies, and no joke, I had them in the mail the very next day! I also ordered a fun Dad’s BBQ print for the backdrop. Zazzle even had the most fun BBQ plates I have ever seen. I set up the food table inside to keep the temperatures regulated, and the bugs at bay. Our farm style table top is easily one of my very favorite DIY’s and I am so glad that I can use my table without a tablecloth finally.
My family loves my homemade BBQ sauce, so I ordered a few post card size BBQ recipe cards and filled it out. I added them to Ball Canning Jars full of my homemade BBQ sauce and sent them home with my brother in law, father in law, and step father.
To keep things simple and low key, I bought store made cole slaw, and pie, and simply cut up some watermelon to go with the serve yourself BBQ sandwiches. My hubby insisted on firing up his grill, despite my protests, and made the most delicious grilled corn on the cob…and the leftovers were perfect for our corn salsa!
We had a great time celebrating Father’s Day, even if it was a little early!
