Vintage Pennant Style First Day of School Printables
It shouldn’t come as any surprise that I love all things vintage. I always have. My childhood homes were furnished and decorated with vintage family pieces. I recently thought of my grandfather’s old Michigan State pennant banners, wishing I still had one or two. And that wish sparked an idea for these vintage pennant style first day of school printables.

First Day of School
Since my oldest son started school we have taken all of the boys’ pictures in the same spot in our house on their first day. Sometimes they colored a sheet of paper, or wrote their name and grade on a piece of paper. Other times, I purchased or download first day printables off the internet. The last several years, I have created my own first day of school printables for the boys to hold.
Vintage Style Class Of Pennants
Inspired by my desire to have my grandpa’s old pennant flags, I created a red and black class of… pennant flag printable package, and a green and white class of… pennant flag printable package. Each printable package includes years 2020 through 2037, so even the littlest scholar can hold a flag on their first day of school!
Make the Pennants
You could very easily print out the pennant and have your student hold it, but I wanted to make mine a little more like a vintage flag.
Supplies
Pennant Flag Printables – Use code CLASSOFPENNANT to download the red and or green files FREE
Optional – Dowel Rod
Step 1:
Download and print your pennant flags. Save paper and ink and only print the pages you need.
Step 2:
Cut out the flag.
Step 3:
Trace a 1/4″ border around the paper pennant onto the felt.
Step 4:
Cut the felt. Use scraps to cut out little tags for the end of the pennant.
Step 5:
Use adhesive to stick the cardstock to the felt pennant flag. Use more adhesive to apply the tags to the pennant.
Step 6:
If you are adding a dowel rod to the flags, apply with more adhesive or hot glue.
