Outer Space Party
I grew up on the Space Coast of Florida. I spent my summers through my adolescent and teen years watching {and feeling} the Titan Rockets launch into space. My grandfather was and engineer on the Apollo Missions, he knew the first astronauts. My godfather worked at NASA. Space is in my blood. I get goosebumps when I see a launch. And, to honor the 50th anniversary of the Lunar Landing, I styled a fun Outer Space Party.
If you decide to make a purchase through my links, I will be paid a small commission for it. This doesn’t cost you anything additional. These commissions help to keep the rest of my content free, so thank you!
Host a Space Themed Birthday Party
Throughout the years, I have hosted several space birthday parties for my boys. Some have been elaborate, others have been simple.
I styled this party for about $30, realistically, you would need to spend about $50 for a real party with more than 6 guests.
Space Party Decorations
The centerpiece of my Space Party was an old rocket ship tent my boys had when they were younger. However, you can make a rocket with moving boxes or buy a similar one online.
The party backdrop was a simple balloon garland. I used a variety of balloons in similar colors, I laced baking twine through small holes in the balloon tails and hung it above a small table and the rocket.
The table was covered with a simple black table cloth, and I hung a small banner in front of the table.
Outer Space Food
I set up a small table with a jar of flying saucer candies and a homemade moon cake. If this had been a true party, I would have included melon ball meteors and astronaut ice cream.
I made the cake with a box mix and baked it in a domed oven safe bowl. Once the cake cooled, I frosted it with homemade grey buttercream. I made moon craters with measuring spoons, simply push the backs of the spoon into the frosting and carefully remove. Instead of a traditional cake topper, I hot glued party circles to bamboo skewers and stuck them into the cake.
Space Party Favors
This little party was for my nephew’s actual birthday, so I didn’t go crazy with party favors. I picked up some Space Ray Guns and tied a party circle tag to each one.
I am sharing the printables FREE with the code MOONWALK.
If you liked this party, be sure to check out these too!
