Mimosa Bar. I was recently lamenting with my friends about how short our summer was this year, and how I was ready to just cry because my big boy was going into his junior year of high school, while my baby boy was going into the very big kid level 4th grade. One friend mentioned how her school hosts a boo-hoo party for the moms of kindergarteners on their first day of school. I loved the idea, and decided to invite my girlfriends over for a 1st Day of School Mimosa Bar.
This party needed to be simple, since I am in the middle of what feels like nine million things. But, I also wanted the party to feel special. I reached out to my friends at Tervis, and asked if they could send enough stemless wine cups for each of the moms, and an ice bucket. They graciously agreed and sent over several of the cutest Tervis wine cups I have ever seen!
The day before the party, I ran to the store to grab some simple breakfast treats for us to snack on. I bought some fresh fruits, some juices, muffins, and croissants. I also picked up some sparkling wines, and sparkling lemonade. Once I got home, I wrote out Mimosa Bar on my rustic chalkboard, and tied it to some hooks in the wall.
The morning of the party, I pulled out my rustic table centerpiece and filled it with the juice, wines, and lemonade. I added fresh flowers to a vintage style measuring cup. I placed the muffins and croissants in an adorable storage box my hubby got me from Michael’s a few weeks ago. Small Ball jelly canning jars were filled with frozen fresh fruits. And, the Tervis ice bucket and cups were on the opposite side of the table.
The girls and I had a great morning enjoying each other’s company without constant interruptions! We also decided to host Mom’s Morning every month while the kids are in school.
