Gingerbread House Decorating Party
My sweet niece just turned six, so, of course we had to invite a few friends over for a little party. My house is generally the party house, and my niece is a-ok with that. She wanted to have a party that was festive and set in front of our fireplace, next to our “twinkling” tree.
I have been diligently creating new SVG files, and I really wanted to try to make a 3D file. So, I decided to try making a 3D Gingerbread House SVG. It is absolutely darling, and the kids loved making the houses their own with stickers and markers at the party. I felt slightly guilty about the kids not using candies and icing to decorate a traditional Gingerbread House, so I bought some pre-made gingerbread man cookies, and the kids had a BLAST decorating those and snacking on the candies.
We only served snacks and milk during the party. Milk was poured into small glass bottles embellished with felt gingerbread men on them. I needed to keep the decorating table relatively open to allow the kiddos more room to decorate. So, we placed the snacks on another table.
The decorating table was topped with a festive red gingham table cloth. I had my son decorate traditional gingerbread houses and we put them on a cake plate in the middle of the table. A cookie jar full of ornaments was placed behind the cake plate. Each place setting had a simple round red felt placemat adorned with a cute felt and Iron On gingerbread boy or girl. I placed a Kraft Board gingerbread house on each placemat, and markers next to the placemats. Decorating gingerbread houses will work up a quite a thirst, so I hot glued a small felt gingerbread person to glass milk bottles. I filled a vintage family pitcher with candy canes for the kids, and added gingerbread man cookies to a tray with small candy canes, candies, and royal icing for the kids to decorate after they finished their houses.
This was by far one of the easiest parties I have ever hosted. Plus, the adults and the kids all had so much fun!
