Charcuterie boards are here to stay, and I am not even a little bit mad about it. I love that I can put a little bit of everyone’s favorite snacks on one board. I love that we can graze on it for a few hours (or a few minutes in my house full of man children). So, for our annual family game night, I am putting together a simple New Year’s Eve Charcuterie board, full of everyone’s favorites!
What is a charcuterie board?
Charcuterie can be translated from French to mean fancy pork butcher. The charcuterie board dates back centuries in France. Originally, la charcuterie, or the butcher, would prepare the meat as a way to preserve it before modern day refrigeration.
Now, charcuterie is served as an appetizer. Traditional charcuterie is served in four ways, pâté, terrine, galantine, roulade. However, it can also be served with cured meat, cheeses, and other sweet and savory treats.
New Year’s Eve Charcuterie
Every year on New Year’s Eve we host a family game night to ring in the new year. Then, I make all of our favorite “bar food” snacks and appetizers. This post with Easy Tailgate Food Ideas is one of our favorite easy to make snack boards too.
To assemble this New Year’s Eve snack board, I gathered some of our favorite lunch meats, cheeses, crackers, fruit, and sweet treats. Then, I gathered some fun disco ball ornaments and cups to finish up our meat and cheese board.
My boys love pomegranate seeds, I love raspberries. So, I was sure to add those to our tray. I also added candied nuts and chocolate pieces. But, the boys were all there for their “fancy Lunchable” meats and cheeses.
I placed all of the snacks on our serving tray, and filled in the empty spaces with disco ball ornaments.
This will be the perfect snack tray for our family game night, and a yummy way to ring in the new year!
