Halloween Chocolate Cherry Brains. All month long I have been surprising the kids with crazy and fun after school snacks. I am in the home stretch, and I’m running out of ideas and time to go big.
I was recently sent a box of Cherry Man Cherries for some holiday recipe ideas. (Look for those posts soon!) I was also recently at one of my multi-weekly trips to Michaels, and saw candy molds on sale for half off…so, I grabbed a brain candy mold. I knew I had candy melts at home already, so I was ready to make some fun treats for the boys.
After the boys went off to school one morning I melted some red candy melts, and covered the brain mold with a thin coat of candy melts. I put the tray in the fridge to cool for a few hours and got some other work done.
Once the first layer of candy melts had set, I added a few cherries and syrup to the mold. Then, I melted more candy melts and filled the rest of the brain molds over the cherries. Finally, I returned the tray to the fridge for another 45 or more minutes so the candy could set.
The chocolate cherry brains were ready to eat when the boys got home from school. And I think they were the boys’ favorite! They were so simple to make, they would be perfect for a party too!
