Simple Patriotic Cupcake Toppers
Simple Patriotic Cupcake Toppers. We are just a few days away from Memorial Day, and with only two days left of school for my boys, I am in hyper mode trying to get all the things done.
We always host a small Memorial Day cook out at our house, and I *try to make sure I am a proper party girl and have patriotic decorations around the house, and serve patriotic foods. Even if they are store bought!
My kids love the mini two bite cupcakes from Target, so when I am running out of time to make my own, I will typically grab a few boxes of them. But, I wanted to make them a little more special than just store bought, so I grabbed my Cricut and made some cute little pinwheel patriotic cupcake decorations. Pinwheels scream summer to me, so I thought they would be too cute on top of little cupcakes. To make them just a little more patriotic, I cut the pinwheels out of red card stock, and the stars out of red card stock. I used my Xyron to assemble them. Next, I added a dot of hot glue to the backs and stuck a toothpick in the glue. Voila! Five minutes of crafting gave me the cutest patriotic cupcakes around!

I sized my pinwheels and stars to fit mini cupcakes, but you can adjust them to fit any size cupcake. {Grab the cut file here}. Cut out a few more than you need, and let the kiddos help assemble them. Just fold every other corner into the center and secure with a dab of adhesive from the Xyron Mega Runner. Place the star in the middle and hot glue the toothpick to the back.
