DIY Elf on the Shelf Activity

Elf on the Shelf Ideas

I have had so much fun creating a few easy and fun Elf activities this week! And, I think I saved my favorite for last. This simple DIY Elf on the Shelf activity is perfect for little hot cocoa lovers!

If you decide to make a purchase through my links, I will be paid a small commission for it. This doesn’t cost you anything additional.

Elf Ideas

By the time the Elf on the Shelf became really popular, my guys were too old to really enjoy it. However, I love being able to help my sister with simple ideas for her kids’ Elf.

My niece loves the DIY Bed for Dolls and Elves we made a few years ago. And, my nephew loved the little snowballs from the Simple Elf Activity Idea.

This adorable little Elf mug of hot cocoa was inspired by my youngest son. He LOVES hot cocoa. One year, Santa brought him a (Amazon Affiliate Link) Breville Milk Frother and the most amazing hot cocoa mix from Williams Sonoma. He could drink it year round (and we live in Florida).

My niece and nephew love our hot cocoa too, so I grabbed an extra can and decided to make a little mug of cocoa for their elves.

You will need a few supplies to make this cute little mug, but, it will cost less than $4 to make several.

  • Mini Glass Jars – I found them at the Dollar Tree for 5/$1
  • Mini Pom Poms – I got these at the Dollar Tree too
  • Brown Craft Paint
  • Hot Glue

Small Glass Jar

First, paint the inside of the glass jar with brown craft paint. While you are painting, let your hot glue gun warm up.

Then, fill the small glass jar with hot glue. (It will get hot, so be careful)

Next, paint the top of the hot glue with more brown craft paint.

Finally, add a few pom pom marshmallows with a few dots of hot glue.

When your elf arrives, sit him next to your little one’s favorite hot cocoa with his own mug of hot cocoa!
