10 Minute Toddler Purse DIY

Can you even believe that Valentine’s Day is just two weeks away? I cannot even believe it myself! We typically don’t do a whole lot of romantic gifting and dining for Valentine’s Day, but I do always have something small for my kiddos, and my niece and nephew. This 10 minute toddler purse DIY will be perfect for my sassy little niece. I grabbed some hair clips from Walmart, and added some candies and voila!

This DIY is so simple and I promise it’s a no sew project!

Supplies:

Sizzix Big Shot Machine

Sizzix Bigz Die Pocket Heart

Felt

Hot Glue Gun and Glue

Bead Necklace or Ribbon

Hole Punch

Scissors

Optional:

Fabric Paint

Hair Dryer (to shrink and stiffen the felt)

Trinkets and treats for inside the purse

Begin by making your Sizzix Sandwich; Cutting pad, die, felt, cutting pad. Run it through your Sizzix twice. Cut a 1″ by 11″ section of felt from your left over piece. Start by hot glueing one side of the tabs on the heart to the felt at the scored line, wrap the felt around the heart, repeat for the second heart. (You may need to use a small box and slide the corner into the 90* angle of the heart to get make it fit correctly. I used a granola bar box)

Now, this is where I should have punched a hole in the felt, but I am going to advise you to punch a hole in the 1″ section near the top of the heart on each side. Cut the beaded necklace to size and push one or two beads through the holes on each side. You should still have about half of the 1″x11″ piece of felt left, fold it over and hot glue it on top of the beads and on top of itself.

You can use the hair dryer now to shrink the felt if you would like. You can also add fabric paint to the hearts and write on them to make them look like a Conversation Heart. You could even add a little button to the top of the heart.

Fill with treats and give it to your favorite toddler!
