Winter Wonderland Party. I live in central Florida, and while the palm trees and warm spring evenings are nice, I do feel like I miss out on some of the seasonal change magic. My kids are third generation native Floridians…and, while we have taken the boys to see snow in the past, it’s not something they get to experience often. This winter has been remarkably cold in Florida, and the boys were all wishing for snow last week when the wind chill temps dropped into the low teens. (Y’all, that is so cold for Florida, it’s hard to find good jackets in stores here, and no one wants to order super expensive brands that they may wear once every 10 years) My kids were so sad when it didn’t actually snow here…So, with the help of some awesome brands, I made it snow in my back yard for my kids, the neighbor kids, and my niece and nephew!
Y’all know I love Oriental Trading! They have some of the best party supplies and they are affordable! My youngest son is enamored with penguins, so I had some penguin party decor on hand already from his stash, and I ordered more from OTC. Since we have been going through hot cocoa like water this season, I knew we would have some cocoa at the party. I was so excited when I found some adorable penguin mini cocoa mugs at Sur La Table on clearance. But, a winter wonderland party would not be complete without snow…The amazing people at SnoWonder sent me snow for our party, and it was S{n}O{w} COOL!!!
I knew our party would be outside on our party deck, so I used my Cricut to make some felt banners to hang on the wall and in front of the table top. I pulled out some of our white pom pom trim to hang in front of the table top as well. I decorated the space with some undecorated Christmas trees and penguins from a penguin bowling set I ordered from OTC. Finally, I used our vintage style skis and sled to add a little more rustic charm to the area.
I filled a large inflatable pool with SnoWonder, and I added paper scoops and kitchen tools for the kids to play with in the snow. I can honestly tell you that all of the kids {even my teenagers} sat in that pool for hours playing in the snow. {We have saved the SnoWonder snow for our Olympics viewing party. It’s awesome because can be reused as long as it stays clean as it dehydrates!} When the kids weren’t in the snow, they were playing penguin bowling, penguin racing, or making snow cones with our Nostalgia Snow Cone Maker.
Of course playing in all the snow makes everyone super hungry, and it’s not a party without fun food! Metal buckets were filled with rock candy and blue and white candy sticks. Cake plates were topped with a mountain of snow covered mini donuts, cupcakes with penguin and snowflake toppers, and Italian Pizelle Cookies. Everyone was able to help themselves to juice and cocoa with plenty of mini Jet Puffed Marshmallows.
We had the.most.wonderful Winter Wonderland ever, and everyone has asked for it to become an annual tradition after the holidays.
Many thanks to the companies that helped make this Wonderland truly wonderful!
