Pirate and Mermaid Skeleton Halloween Party
Growing up in Florida, I have spent countless hours on the beach searching for treasures. I have dreamed of mermaids and pirates. Everyone has a pirate or a mermaid story to tell. Florida homes are decorated with mermaids. And salty sun kissed skin is tattooed with pirates. Florida and sea tales go hand in hand. So, when I was dreaming up Halloween Party ideas, it was only natural to think of a Pirate and Mermaid Skeleton party on the beach.

Halloween Party Ideas
One of my favorite places to get Halloween party inspiration is Oriental Trading Company. They always have a huge variety at an affordable price. I also have tons of inspiration pinned on Pinterest. Finally, I am almost always inspired when I walk through stores and malls.
Halloween parties don’t need to be elaborate or over the top, in fact, my Pirate and Mermaid Skeleton Halloween Party was fairly intimate and would be ideal for just a few people.
Pirate and Mermaid Skeleton Party on the Beach
We have this beach near my house that has the most amazing rocks. The rocks were placed on the shore line years and years ago to help fight erosion. But, after many years, they are now covered with barnacles and sea life. They look like a mermaid grotto, just peaking out of the surf. I love to walk along this beach in the evening and watch the sun set.
I knew I wanted to host a small Halloween Party on the beach after my Shark Week party. And, when I saw the Mermaid Skeleton from OTC, I KNEW I would have the Mermaid and Pirate Halloween Party of my dreams!
Oriental Trading had everything I needed for our Halloween Party on the beach, except the food and drinks. I ordered a pirate flag, gold coins, star fish, treasure boxes, lanterns and more. It was more than I would normally spend on party decor, but everything can be used for many more Halloween celebrations.
Since this party wasn’t being hosted at home, I needed to make sure everything I brought could easily be carried down to the beach in our folding wagon.
Pirate and Mermaid Party
I wanted the mermaid and pirate skeletons to be on the beach rocks, with a small decorated party table near by. So, I set up the rest of the party food and drinks were set up on a table under a beach tent.
We used PVC and Garden Hooks and hammered them into the sand about a foot, then I attached the Mermaid and Pirate Skeletons to the PVC with zip ties. This kept them from joining Davy Jones’ Locker. I filled a large plastic treasure chest with ice and beverages. Only a few the guests dared take the pirate’s treasures.
I set up a small side table in the water near the skeletons. Then, I topped it with a wine red table cloth and halloween cheese cloth fabric. I added candle sticks, half empty bottles of rum, and sea shells to the table. Then, I buried glass lanterns a few inches in the sand in front of the table.
