Oktoberfest Party. I remember very vividly going to an Oktoberfest celebration locally as a child, and going to a true Oktoberfest is on my bucket list of things to do…but, until then, I will host a fun celebration in my back yard!
Since we built the back yard party space, I want to have ALL.THE.PARTIES back there! I am looking for whatever random thing to celebrate all the time, much to my husband’s chagrin. But, when I suggested hosting an Oktoberfest Party, he was, dare I say, enthusiastic-ish about it. Before he could change his mind, I ordered all the decor from Oriental Trading.
Before the party, I ran to Aldi to buy some authentic German foods. They had everything I needed, even the beer! I grabbed some spaetzel packages (super easy for me), some cookies, chocolate pastries, and the beer.
The night before the party, I hung the banner from our party space to the roof of our back deck and back again a few times. It totally set the tone for the party, and it was perfect above the corn hole boards in the yard! On the back wall of the party space, I hung a few Oktoberfest banners.
Just before the party, I tacked a plastic table cloth to the counter of the deck. {Typically, I hate plastic tablecloths, but this time I made an exception} Then, I hung some fun inflatable pretzels on the front of the counter.
A cake plate with bite sized treats sat center stage. I kept the pretzels warm in the house along with the spaetzel, but the beer selection and cider choices were kept out for our guests to see.
This party is one of my favorite to date, and I fall in love with our party space a little more each time we use it.
