Holiday Decorating With World Market. My local Cost Plus World Market store {Clearwater, FL} has been open for just a few months, but in that time, I have bought bathroom decor, new dining chairs, a variety of food, small decorative accents, wine, more wine, kitchen tools, and holiday decor. I LOVE having a store so close {finally} and I might have squealed with delight when I saw the Christmas section in my store! Of course, I don’t need a whole lot of Christmas decor, but I couldn’t pass it up!
When I decorate for the holidays, I try to keep the same theme throughout the house, with similar colors and style. My style is rustic modern. I love gold colors, but I also super love buffalo check plaid. I also like to decorate our home before Thanksgiving with some of our decor, and finish up the decor the weekend after Thanksgiving. The great thing about most of our decor is that it can be used all winter long if I wanted.
I love garland, the more the better, so when I saw the berry and pine garland, I quickly put in my cart. It’s a simple way to add texture and color to a neutral pallet. Instead of hanging it like a traditional garland, I folded it and placed it in a hand made wooden box, and added flameless candles. I love the way this box looks on our dining table. I flanked it with a set of wooden candle sticks on one side, and an apothecary jar and lantern filled with faux snow and bottlebrush trees. On the shelf near the dining table I added some peppermint spoons to my measuring cup, and a small scale is perfect to have as an accent piece, and for holiday baking!
During the holidays, I like to be ready for any guests that may pop in, so I transform my work space into a holiday buffet. I can just add cookies and drinks for an instant party! I filled a tiered tray with delicious candies, and artisan hot cocoa. How great are those tins? The bottom tier has cocoa mugs, more cocoa in a canning jar, and snowflake shaped marshmallow mug toppers. I also like to have a tray ready for mixed drinks. We don’t have space for a true bar cart, so I built a folding tray table and use it as a bar cart. I added vinyl to cute flasks, and picked up a drink shaker and awesome brass geo terrariums for the tray. I filled the terrariums with inexpensive ornaments and more faux snow and bottle brush trees.

I filled a basket near our Christmas tree with inexpensive ornaments and battery operated lights for a little extra twinkle. My sweet llama ornament is placed nearby.
I love being ready to entertain at a moments notice, and I truly love walking into my home when it is decorated with twinkling lights.
