Typically, we have a hot cocoa bar for the kids every year. This year was a little different, but still fun.
This Holiday Hot Cocoa Bar still has my whole entire heart! I also really LOVE this Winter Hot Cocoa Party from 2019!
Make your own DIY Valentine’s Day Hot Cocoa Bombs
These little treats are so much fun, and SO easy to make! We made small ones, so we added two heart shaped “bombs” to each cup when we made our hot cocoa.
There are a few things we always use when we make hot cocoa. One is good hot cocoa. My son loves Ghirardelli and Williams Sonoma cocoa. And, we all love our hot cocoa to be made with our Breville Milk Frother. (amazon links) You can adjust the temperature on the milk frother and add as much milk as you need for single or multiple servings.
We also used a baking pan and silicone mat to make clean up a lot easier. And, we always melt the candy melts in a ziploc bag. Then, I can just throw it out without having to clean up anything. It is a HUGE time saver. Just snip the corner off and use the bag like a traditional baker’s piping bag.
Valentine’s Day Hot Cocoa Bombs
Ingredients
- 1 Cup Red Candy Melts
- 1/4 Cup Pink Candy Melts
- 2 Packages Hot Cocoa Mix
- 1/4 Cup Candy Sprinkles
Instructions
-
Melt red candy melts. I put them in a ziploc bag and microwave them.
-
Cover a heart shaped mold with red candy melts. Don't fill it, just add enough to make a thin shell. We made 12 hearts, or 6 bombs.
-
Place heart moldin the freezer for 5 minutes.
-
Fill half of the hearts with cocoa and candy sprinkles.
-
Re-melt red candy melts, and add a line of melted candy around the filled hearts. Top with empty hearts. Smooth melted candy with your finger.
-
Place back in the freezer for 5 minutes.
-
Melt the pink candy melts.
-
Remove hearts from freezer and drizzle with melted pink candy melts. Then, sprinkle with more candy sprinkles.
-
Place in the freezer again to allow pink candy melts to set.
-
Add two heart hot cocoa bombs to a cup, and pour hot milk over it. Stir well.
