DIY Party Invitation
DIY Party Invitation. My third boy will be celebrating his 13th birthday next week. It has been so amazing to watch him grow from a sickly infant, into a healthy, handsome, bright young man. And, since he is one of the reasons for Everyday Party Magazine, and definitely one of the reasons we find something to celebrate everyday, we are going all out for his birthday!
He has loved to swim for as long as any of us can remember, so, it seemed fitting to make his birthday theme a pool party. But, paper invitations aren’t cool, apparently. So, we ordered some neon sunglasses, and made my Cricut go to work!
Supplies to make fun sunglasses party invitations:
I wanted to curve the text some and make it fill out the sunglasses lenses, so I found a Design Space image that was similar to the shape of the sunglasses I ordered and created and modified the text to fit in the lens. You can use the curved text feature, but I wasn’t getting the results I wanted with that, so I ungrouped the text, and moved each letter until I was happy with the look. {You can use this cut file for them} I also added text to the sides of the glasses.
Once I was happy with the design, I sent it to cut. I used permanent vinyl because I wanted the party details to stick to the lenses. We were able to remove the vinyl with a little elbow grease and some soap, so the glasses could be reused after the party too.
Next I weeded the vinyl, and used transfer tape to apply the text to the glasses.
This is such a fun way to invite guests to a party!
You can find the sunglasses I used here.
