DIY Football Party Favors
DIY Football Party Favors. We are gearing up for football viewing celebrations, and tailgate parties. College football is a BIG deal in the south, and my hubby and boys are sure to be found watching SEC football on Saturdays…even if we are at the hockey rink for those games too. Since we never really know when we will have time to host an impromptu celebration, I like to take time the week or two before school starts to work on some simple DIY Football Party Favors. Some years I order something and tie a cute tag and bow on it, other years I feel more motivated and make cute little favors to have on hand.
This year was a motivated year, and even though these cute little football favors look like they took forever to make, they really didn’t take long at all!
To make these DIY Football Party Favors, you will need:
Cricut (I used the Maker with the new Scoring Wheels)
I started by making the favor bags. I pre-cut a lot of Photo Play End Zone paper to make the bags with, that way I could just quickly assemble them when I needed to. Each bag was a little smaller than one full 12×12 sheet of paper. The scraps would be perfect for making a banner.
Once my bags were cut, I used my Xyron Mega Runner to apply adhesive to the tabs, and quickly assembled my football party favor bags. These bags would be awesome snack and popcorn bags too! {And, they would be GREAT as football birthday party favors!}
Now that the favor bags were ready, I started on the favors to go in each one. I wanted to make something cute, but affordable, bonus for having something my kids could help me with! I uploaded the Football SVG’s to Cricut Design Space and sized each one to fit a mini felt pennant banner. I love the vintage/rustic look, so I layered the felt to mimic classic sports pennants. I cut white felt for the bottom and a tiny strip on top of the red, red for the top, and white iron on for the text.
Once all the pennants were cut and weeded, I assembled them with the help of my kids. I set my EasyPress to 250* and pressed the Iron On on to the felt with the protective sheet for 15 seconds. The red felt was hot glued to the white felt. You could add a small dowel rod in between the red and white felt too if you wanted them to be hand held.
Finally, I filled the bottoms of the bags with candies, and added the pennant flags with a little bit of tissue paper.
I am ready for whatever football party we host!
