My son is an art student at a well known art high school. He is so lucky to have such a fabulous school in our area. This school nurtures some of the very best theatrical, musical, and visual artists around. Each student is required to produce a graduation thesis. Visual arts students have to secure, market, produce art, and host an art show at local museums. They are required to entertain their guests, and provide refreshments.
As soon as I saw the Diet Coke Kaleidoscope It’s My Masterpiece glasses at my local Walmart, I knew they would be awesome for my son’s art show! I have seen the bottles in their own display, with the other Coca Cola products on the soft drink aisle, and on an end cap. Each one is totally unique, and individual! I bought several, and saved the empty bottles after we enjoyed a glass of Diet Coke. Once we had 5 empty Diet Coke Glasses, we were ready to get to work.
Supplies:
Empty Diet Coke Kaleidoscope My Masterpiece Glasses from Walmart
Glue (I used E-600, and a hot glue gun. Both worked well, the hot glue dried my faster)
Paint Palettes
Weights (I used canned foods)
Cupcakes and or Cake
The first step is to throughly wash and dry the empty Diet Coke bottles. Once they are dry, add a bead of glue around the opening of the glass bottle.
Add the palette on top of the bottle(s) and add the weights to hold the palette to the bottles. (Overnight) Or use hot glue and hold in place until the glue dries.
Once the palette is secure on top of the bottle(s), use to hold cupcakes or cake for your art show or art party!
I made 3 Diet Coke palette cake stands. One used three Diet Coke bottles and a larger more traditionally shaped palette. The other two used only one Diet Coke bottle and a smaller round palette. I purchased the round palettes at Walmart for just under $1, and the larger one at Michaels for about $2. For less than $10 I was able to make 3 very unique artist inspired cake plates for my son’s art show.
