Super Hero Trunk or Treat
with Oriental Trading Company
Super Hero Trunk or Treat with Oriental Trading Company. Each Halloween for the past several years I have participated in Tikkido’s Trunk or Treat Blog Hop. I absolutely love it! {So does my sister, since she gets all the goodies for her Trunk or Treat set up at my niece and nephew’s school}
I have done a spooky version, a gross version, and a more tame version. This year, I changed it up, and I went with a Super Hero theme. My son is graduating this June, and his graduation party will be comic book themed, so I will be able to reuse a lot of the props from this shoot!
I ordered everything I needed for the Trunk or Treat from Oriental Trading Company, even the candy! {Yay for shopping in my jammies!} Once everything came in, I spent a few minutes cutting the flaps off the box, and cutting them into generic building shapes. I quickly spray painted them, and while they dried, I assembled the awesome cupcake stand. {If I was using it for a party, I would hot glue it in a few spots to help keep it together a little better.} I used the window punch outs from the cupcake stand on the buildings I painted. I quickly hot glued them to the buildings and then staple gunned the buildings to a scrap of 2×4″ to hold them up in the back of my SUV.
In front {back?} of the tailgate I set up a folding table with a black table cloth. Batman and The Joker held bowls of Dum Dums, and Smarties, and plastic candy dish buildings were filled with Cow Tales Minis and even Wonder Woman style slap bracelets. All three candies are safe for little ones with peanut allergies! Next to the table I set up the cupcake stand, and decorated it with a few more candy dish buildings stuffed with yellow and red tissue paper.
My hubby and I built a simple wooden frame/stand for the comic book photo prop with just a few dollars worth of lumber, 4 l-brackets, and a staple gun. This was a BIG hit with my youngest son, and he has tried to lay claim on it several times already!
My sister is super excited to use all of these awesome super heroes for her Trunk or Treat, and I can’t wait to show her the Wonder Woman shirt I ordered too!

Oh my goodness, I love it all!! I think my favorite detail might be the city building clear rectangular containers, though. So clever!

What a fun theme. I like that you added a photo frame so the trick or treaters can stop and take a picture.
