Snow Day Fun
Snow Day Fun. It is officially the coldest day of the winter, snow is literally a few hour drive away, and while I wish we could take the time to drive a few hours north, we have hockey obligations for my second son…so, we improvised. Even though it’s not snowing here, it’s still very cold. So, I set up a small table with goodies, I rented a few movies, and I am going to take the kids that aren’t playing hockey to go ice skate in just a few minutes. This was a totally impromptu celebration, using things I had at the house, and a store bought cake. I didn’t do any printables, I didn’t set up a fancy backdrop. It was so simple, but so much fun for the boys! Even the moody tween boys.
I grabbed some gloves from our cold weather drawer and hung them to the front of my new (to me) vintage school desk with command hooks and clothes pins on twine. It was a great place to hang gloves, and the kiddos were super excited to new gloves for our cold day. It worked as a cute and functional bunting for our table.I purchased a cake from the local bakery and added cute little Wilton Candy ice skating penguins I picked up from Target on clearance after Christmas. I simply added them to the top of the cake and voila, cute cake, no effort! I popped popcorn “snow flakes” and added mugs, packets of cocoa, and Cow Tales Minis to the table for our movie marathon. Since I have busy boys, I also set out the supplies for them to make their own snow. I even set up our snow machine in the yard for them to play. It is *almost* cold enough to feel like real snow too!
We snuggled by the fire to watch our Redbox movies. My hubby still loves using our HomeRight Electro-Light Fire Starter, and jumps at any opportunity to start a fire.
After we get back from ice skating, we plan on watching more movies and having a snow ball fight with our snow ball poms from Consumer Crafts. Even though we are in Florida, we are celebrating snow with the rest of the country.
