Oliver’s Safari Birthday Party
I adore Bethany from Sweet Georgia Sweet, and it is so fun to watch her handsome little boys grow. As Oliver’s first birthday approached, I think I may have been more excited and giddy about it than what is considered normal! As expected, this party was absolutely stunning and so sweet! Oliver’s Safari Birthday Party was full of sentimental touches and the perfect way to celebrate this sweet boy’s very first birthday!
From Sweet Georgia Sweet:
For our little boy’s first birthday, we decided to “take” him on a safari. Since Mommy, Daddy, and big brother have all been on an African safari, we decided that baby needed to join in on the fun too. I wanted to go with a vintage safari feel and use lots of soft natural colors. The invitation, with its African animals and vintage flair, set the tone for our little soiree perfectly!
We wanted to keep an intimate setting, so we invited our family over and served them lunch and let baby have his first cake smash; the grandparents got a first row seat and had their cameras out and were snapping away. The guest table was set with individual lunch boxes tied with safari themed lunch tags. We served milk in French square bottles and offered water bottles with personalized birthday labels. The table centerpieces included an authentic carved African elephant and white textured burlap topiaries all atop a burlap and linen ruffle table runner. On each guest’s chair was hung a cotton candy filled paper cone. And for party favors, our guests enjoy treats in tiny little vintage suitcases.
It was lots of fun to carry the party decorations further by decorating the fireplace mantle in our home. I pulled together antique books, safari animals, lanterns, and an authentic African drum to draw together the many aspects of this fun theme. I wanted to add a personal touch, so I also incorporated photos of the birthday boy himself into the decorating. A custom Happy Birthday banner with little giraffes continued the color scheme and worked perfectly hanging from the mantle. Hanging above the mantle was my favorite birthday decoration – a First Birthday Board complete with all of Oliver’s interests & favorite things. This was a fun way to celebrate our little boy’s budding personality.
It was such joy to see everyone come together to celebrate our baby boy. And even sweeter was the sheer joy on his face as he enjoyed open his gifts and being the center of attention on his big day!
