Must Have Gifts for Crafters. I really don’t consider myself a crafter…a DIY’er yes, crafter, ehhh…but, there are several must haves for any crafter, in any budget.
3. OttLite
I recently redid my work space, and built a long table top (thanks to my Kreg Jig) to work on, and hold my most used tools. The table top is on a vintage filing cabinet that hides holds my vinyl and a vintage shipping crate that holds my paints, buckets, and other miscellaneous tools. There is a space in the middle for two stools, but, typically I have a large bin full of whatever project(s) I am working on at the moment.
The top of the table is where I keep my “I use this EVERY.SINGLE.DAY!” tools. All of them are things I cannot live without and still create my parties.
In no particular order, my Cricut Explore Air 2, my Canon Printer, glass jars of washi tape and glue sticks, my paper cutter, my OttLite, and my Holster Brands craft caddies. I also have a galvanized bucket full of other tools and supplies, including ribbon, more tape, paint brushes, rulers, etc.
You all already know my love for my Cricut…the new Explore Air 2 is AH-MAZ-ING! So fast, and I think even slightly more precise…and it’s pretty.
My Canon printer prints fairly quickly with good quality. It’s a decent printer, and copier for a reasonable price.
Glass jars hold my small things and a quick glance on my way out the door will let me know if I need to replenish anything on my frequent trips to Michaels.
I found my paper cutter on ridiculous clearance at an office supply store and it is hands down the best one I have ever owned.
My OttLite was sent to me recently, and it truly is amazing. It has a small profile, but a crazy bright light. I’m not sure how I ever worked without it. I love that it can be free standing or mounted, and it has a rotating and extending arm. Plus the light itself swivels, so there is virtually nothing I can’t light up with a spot light when I need to. It’s my go to lighting source for evening projects.
I just got several Holster Brand caddies, and I cannot even believe I didn’t come up with the idea myself. It is seriously, a where has this been my whole life kind of tool. I can easily and safely store my hot glue gun, and whatever other must have tools I am working with at the moment. Sometimes I have markers out all over, other times it’s my Penblades and or Fiskars Scissors, either way, the Holsters are up to the task! My sister even snagged one from me, and I feel like I should order more for my mom for Christmas.
The galvanized bucket was a gift from my mom, I believe it is supposed to be used for outdoor entertaining…but, I use it so much more on my work desk!
Finally, I keep a ridiculous amount of Cow Tales Minis and Udderly Smooth lotion on my desks….my hands get so dry Udderly Smooth is the only brand I trust to moisturize without irritation. And, Cow Tales, I mean, it’s an energy boost 😉
I made the desk with my favorite DIY tools, my Kreg Jig, and my Ryobi saw, drill, and sanders. It’s made of durable 2×6 planks jigged together. I need to stain and wax it, but, I have seriously not had time and energy at the same time to get it done.
What are your crafting tool must haves?
I hope this helps you shop for the crafters in your life!
