We recently rented a small apartment for one of our sons several hours away from home. He is playing semi-pro hockey in south Florida, but he misses home. So, when DesignStyles reached out to me about sharing their Rae Dunn collection, I jumped on the opportunity. I asked my son which collection he liked the most. Farmhouse Christmas Decor

My son really wanted the apartment to feel as much like home as possible. So, we used extra trees, ribbon, and some decor we had at home and from our office. Unfortunately, the trees we had looked too short in the space. So, we added height with simple wooden crates stained with coffee. It is much easier to clean coffee spills from a rental space than it is to clean a traditional stain. Once we were happy with the color, we let the crates fully dry. Then, we added a galvanized metal Rae Dunn tree skirt on the crates. Once we assembled our Christmas tree on the crates, I filled the inside of the tree skirt with LED Christmas lights. Then, I added some of our old shatterproof red and silver ornaments.

Next, it was time to decorate the tree! We added a gingham ribbon around the tree, and then my son added the Rae Dunn Red Love collection of ornaments.
