It’s no surprise that my sweet niece is my little love. I am so thrilled to have a little girl in my life to spoil and celebrate with! This past weekend, we decided to host a little Valentine’s Day Party for her and a friend.

Valentine’s Day Party
I wanted our celebration to be simple, but festive. So, I did what any good DIY’er does, and I pulled out my Cricut Explore Air 2 Machine! I love the versatility of my Cricut Machines. Love comes in all shapes and sizes. And with Cricut, anyone can become a Valentine’s Day match-MAKER!
I asked my niece how she wanted me to decorate for the party, and she enthusiastically asked for lots of cookies, cupcakes, and red and pink hearts.
Who am I to disappoint a little girl and her friend? I started with sweet invitations for my niece and her BFF. Then, I got to work on the table and party decorations.
Valentine’s Day Decorations with Cricut
I decided I wanted to make a fun felt heart table runner. Then, I expanded on that, and created the cutest felt heart chair back decoration. I also made place settings and cake plate decorations. Each project was cut in minutes with my Explore Air 2. You can find the shopping list and the cut file link at the end of this post.
I cut about a dozen individual hearts to create the table runner. My Cricut Explore Air 2 made quick work of this project.
First, I used the shape tool in design space to make a heart shape.
Next, I created several sizes. I made several large hearts to use as place mats. But, I also made a variety of other sizes to use for more party decor as well as the table runner. Since I created such a large cut file project, I copied and pasted hearts until I had more than enough for each project.
Once I was happy with the size of each heart, I sent them to cut. I used a strong grip cutting mat and set my EA2 to cut felt. In the material settings, I up’ed the cut pressure to 185 and set the multi-cut to two times. I did need to use scissors to snip a few corners, but it was much easier and more precise than cutting each heart by hand.
When I was ready to create my table runner, I set them out on the table, moving each heart until I was happy with the layout. Once I was satisfied, I used a squirt of hot glue to secure each heart to the next.
The cake plates needed a little height, so I used two of my left over hearts, and hot glued them to a party cup. Then, I placed a decorated cup in the middle of two of the cake plates and surrounded them with cookies and mini cupcakes.
Both place settings were decorated with an oversized heart, disposable cups and straws, and plates topped with cookies for the girls to decorate.
Finally, I added paper doll style hearts to the chair backs with plaid ribbon. They are included in the cut file.
For this project, I created a series of smaller shaped hearts and moved each one around until it was just touching the heart next to it with a slight upward swag. I needed them to be just under a foot long to fit on the chair backs, so I kept that in mind as I placed each heart.
Once I was happy with the placement of each heart, I welded each one together to create one long piece.
Then, I added a small hole in each end with the slice feature and set it to cut.
I followed the same steps for this as I did for the larger hearts.
Valentine’s Day Party Activities
Of course I needed to keep these two giggly little girls busy! We decorated cookies, did a Valentine’s Day Word Search, colored, and at the end of the party, we made BFF Shirts for each girl with Cricut Infusible Ink.
The shirts were the perfect party favor for these two besties!
