Summer Kick Off Party with Smithfield Ribs. We are quickly finishing up our thirteenth consecutive year of elementary school…and we are so, so ready for Summer! We decided to host a Pre-Summer Kick Off Party this past weekend for our friends and family. Summer parties are my favorite, and this was no different.
One of the first things you should do when planning a party is create the menu. Summer party menu ideas and even Memorial Day Party menu ideas often include BBQ, and fresh fruits. One of our family favorite party foods is grilled Smithfield Extra Tender Pork Back Ribs. We dry rub them, braise them, and even dip them in seasonings. We believe that if Championship Pitmasters use Smithfield Fresh Pork in their competitions and on their backyard grill, then we should too! A Championship Pitmaster knows when the quality of the meat matters most, which is why they use Smithfield Fresh Pork. Smithfield Fresh Pork is perfect any night on the grill, whether a great weeknight meal or getting together to barbecue with family and friends. I promise, it doesn’t take long to make a great rack of Smithfield Fresh Pork Ribs! We buy ours at Walmart, along with all of our other grilling and party supplies! We love Smithfield Ribs because they are hand-trimmed, extra-tender and juicy, so anyone can make delicious grilled ribs. And, there is an iBotta offer, grab it here.
To help make my life a little easier, I used Walmart’s Online Grocery Pickup. Just decide on your Memorial Day Party Menu or Summer Party Menu, or even just your weekly grocery list, and open the app. It is seriously a life saver for busy people everywhere! I ordered my Smithfield Extra Tender Pork Back Ribs, some smoked seasonings, Anheuser Busch Bud Light, fresh fruit, and other side items and drinks for our party, FROM MY PHONE! When the order was ready, I got an email, and used my app to alert the Walmart employees that I was in the designated parking space. They brought my order to my car and loaded it in the trunk. Easy peasy! Also, can we all say a little praise that we don’t have to “people” to get ready for a Memorial Day Weekend Party or Summer Party thanks to this!?! FOR REAL Y’ALL, this is life changing!
When I got home with the groceries, I quickly made a beer glaze (get the recipe at the bottom of this post) with a can of Anheuser Busch Bud Light, smoked brown sugar seasoning, a dash of pepper corn, and a little fresh garlic. Once the glaze reduced down a little, I poured it over the Smithfield Extra Tender Pork Back Ribs and let them sit in the glaze for about 30 minutes. While they marinated in the glaze, I warmed up our trusty Weber Grill {that grill is a total workhorse!}. Once the grill was at about 300* I added the ribs around the outside of the grill away from the flame. I cooked them for about 3 hours, flipping them each hour. When they had just about 15-20 minutes left to cook, I brushed more of the glaze over them, and sprinkled a little more smoked sugar on top. Smithfield Extra Tender Pork Back Ribs are pretty much fool proof.

While the ribs cooked on the grill, I made a red, white, and blue fruit salad with seasonal berries and tiny marshmallows. I also hand cut potatoes and made homemade fries, and our secret family recipe macaroni and cheese. Drinks were in coolers and buckets on our back party deck, and the pool was ready for guests! This would be perfect for a Memorial Day party too!
This was a great way to get ready for the summer and enjoy a carefree day with friends and family!
