I have a confession, I’ve never actually etched glass before this project. I can tell you a) it’s so super easy, I can’t believe it’s taken me so long to try it, and b) I want to etch all.the.glass now!
For this project, you will need:
Begin by measuring your shot glass and creating a design/phrase in Design Space. I used a Cricut Access font {Cricut Sans} and typed Best Day Ever to fit on the glass, I also typed #BestDayEver to fit another shot glass. Grab those cut files here.
Once the text was the correct size, I sent it to my Cricut to cut. (There is a drop down menu that will allow you to select how many cuts you want to make) Cut the vinyl, and weed it. For this project, you want to remove the letters, and leave the bulk of the vinyl. (Don’t forget to leave the negative sections of the letters too)
Use transfer tape to apply the vinyl to the glass. Remove the transfer tape and tape around the exposed glass with the excess transfer tape or masking tape.
Now you are ready to etch the glass.
Follow the package instructions and don’t forget to wear gloves. Paint the cream over the vinyl stencil and allow it to sit on the glass for the recommended time. Rinse the glass off and remove the vinyl and tape.
This project took only a few minutes to make and each shot glass cost just $1. If shot glasses aren’t your thing, you could do the same thing on pub glasses or mason jars.
That’s it! Now you have a personal and useful wedding favor to share with your friends and family on the Best Day Ever!
