Fourth of July Cookout.  I absolutely love this time of year!  Long days spent with the family in the pool, playing games, or even just relaxing on the back deck.  No matter how the day is spent, no one wants to go inside to fuss over a big dinner!  recipe, Smithfield Ribs, BBQ, 4th of July, CookoutWe recently started grilling Smithfield ribs on the grill, and everyone in the family loves them!  They always turn out juicy and full of delicious flavor.  Sometimes we use a dry rub, and slowly cook them over low heat on the grill, other times, we forget it’s nearly dinner, and quickly toss a few racks on the grill with minimal seasoning, and brush them with bbq sauce just before they come off the fire.  Either way, they are gone in a flash, and we always want more!

Each year we host a large fourth of July cookout and celebration, and this year wont be any different…the only thing we are changing is the menu! BBQ ribs, corn on the cob, watermelon, mac and cheese, biscuits, and ice cold drinks are on the menu this year.  I know, ribs can be intimidating but…y’all put on your apron, and get out there and grill them.  You will thank me, I promise!  But before you go, grab this coupon from Ibotta. Smithfield Grilling Memorial Day Ibotta Widget copy

Everyday Party Magazine Fourth of July Cookout 1 copyThe hubs and I were decorating our party space for the fourth of July, and I was hungry…but, umm, I didn’t take anything out for dinner, because, well, life…So, we made a quick run to our local Walmart and grabbed a few racks of Smithfield Extra Tender Back Ribs and some more 4th of July decor. While I prepped the corn, mac and cheese, the kids heated the biscuits and cut the watermelon, and the hubby fired up the grill.  We dusted the ribs with some turbinado  sugar and a little bit of chili powder, and put them on the grill.  We grilled them at about 350* for 2.5 hours over Kingsford Charcoal rotating them around the fire every half an hour or so.  We brushed them with KC Materpiece bbq sauce about 15 minutes before we pulled them from the grill, and again as we pulled them off the grill.  In between rotating the ribs, the hubs hopped in the pool and even played a round of Jenga.
