Mother’s Day Gift. Every year for Mother’s Day my boys make me sweet little gifts and bring me partially frozen waffles…and they always struggle to find a tray to carry it all on. This year, they saw a wooden tray at Target and said we should buy it for Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Since I have been wanting a small catch all style tray anyway, I bought it. When we got it home, they boys decided raw wood was too ugly to use, so they went to my DecoArt Paint stash and together, we mixed two Color Stain colors together. We lightly painted the whole tray, and wiped off the excess stain with a rag. The tray needed a little more, so I took it to Lowe’s to have a piece of glass cut to fit in the tray. (I swear the book If You Give a Mom a Muffin is so my life) Even with the glass, they tray needed a little more…so, I looked through all of my DCWV papers, I love them ALL, and found some white washed wood style paper! I cut the paper to fit the tray, and then sliced it into “planks”. Once I had all the planks cut, I ran them through my Xyron Creative Station and voila, I had wood plank stickers! Finally, I was able to put them on the bottom of the tray, add the cut glass, and I have a tray I love!! And the kids can spoil me on Mother’s Day 😉 This little tray is now sitting on the coffee table, and we all get a little smile on our faces when we see it!
Since we celebrated Mother’s Day with our moms a little early, the boys thought they should celebrate with me too. They got some fresh flowers at the grocery store with their dad, and even made me a custom Tervis cup this weekend. And, of course, my semi-frozen waffles. They even added Caramel Cream candies to the tray. They know when I go out of town, I sometimes get candies on my pillow (that I bring home to them), so cute, right? One of my boys even put a pretty gold sea shell on the tray…he helped me paint it earlier last week, and he thought it was super pretty.
