Block Party Hero Recipe. I love gathering all of our neighbors and friends together for backyard games and cook outs! Summer evenings should be spent with friends and family with good food to share! But, who wants to spend the whole day in the kitchen food prepping?
When we plan large (or small) gatherings, my first stop is Sam’s Club. They literally have everything I need for a party menu! In fact, the in store demos right now are set up to help make you a Summer Block Party Hero! (Be sure to check your local store for times and info.) I sampled a delicious meal idea when I was shopping at Sam’s Club this weekend. I grabbed some Swanson Chicken Broth, Pace Organic Salsa, and a bag of oranges. I also picked up a few cases of our favorite drinks, and some tortilla chips. I had some truRoots Quinoa at home already.
I pre-make all of my quinoa at the beginning of the week. I make it unflavored, and then flavor it to compliment each meal. This has become such a huge life saver for meal prep at our house! This week I made a ton of my truRoots Quinoa using Swanson Chicken Broth and fresh squeezed orange juice. Then I popped it in a storage container and saved it until party day! The Swanson broth really enhanced the flavor of the truRoots Quinoa. I love truRoots Quinoa, it is so simple to make!

On the day of our Summer Block Party, I cut the tops off my oranges and cleaned the oranges out. (I saved the pieces for the juicer for later) then, I cut a small section off the bottom to allow the orange to stand. Once I had my oranges prepared, I took out my pre-made truRoots Quinoa and squeezed some fresh juice into it and mixed in some homemade taco seasoning, then I stuffed my oranges.
I used the fresh orange juice to make a simple orange syrup. (1 cup of sugar to 1/2 cup of juice and boil for 3 minutes, allow to cool) Now, it was time for the hubs to finish up the meal prep! He grilled chicken breasts, brushing the orange syrup on each side of each chicken breast halfway through grilling. He also, placed the stuffed oranges on the grill away from the fire. This warmed up the truRoots Quinoa and gave it a smokey flavor. Once the chicken was cooked we cut it up. The oranges were topped with cut chicken pieces and Pace Organic Salsa. They were served with chips and more salsa. The salsa was the perfect amount of flavor for the chicken and quinoa stuffed oranges.
I was able to pre-make everything for the party, except the chicken, and that was a huge time saver! I love being able to pre-make and just spend the day socializing and enjoying my friends’ company. Our friends loved being able to grab a stuffed orange and some plasticware and just eat it as is. The perfect no plate necessary meal on the go!
We spent the afternoon and evening chatting and watching the kids play in the pool, as the sun set, we played a few rounds of corn hole and yard Yahtzee. We were all Summer Block Party Heroes, and we didn’t even need a cape. 😉
