If you have been following me on social media this year, you know my husband and I built a She-Shed (I call it a Bitch Barn) in the backyard. It’s been a great place for me to work on school work and for us to host guests. And, if you know me, you know I have been itching to decorate it for ALL.OF.THE.HOLIDAYS. This Simple Halloween Craft was a five minute craft that cost less than $10, so it was the perfect craft for me to make for the barn.
If you decide to make a purchase through my links, I will be paid a small commission for it. This doesn’t cost you anything additional.
Halloween DIY
I have shared so many fun DIY Halloween projects, and this DIY Halloween Charger set is so fun for a kids’ party!
A few years ago we were trying to help our son adjust to living away from home while he played semi-pro hockey. It was a very expensive year for us, but I wanted him to have some feeling of home while he was so far away. So, I went to the Dollar Tree often to buy supplies to make cute holiday decor for the apartment he was living in. This Dollar Store DIY Halloween Project was perfect, and now I use it at home too!
Make a Simple Halloween Craft
This simple craft is so fun, and it doesn’t take any time to make! I bought all of my supplies at the Dollar Tree or I had them at home already. But, I will link similar items on Amazon below.
Supplies:
- Skeletons
- Candlesticks
- Candles
- Black paint or antiquing wax
- Hot glue gun and glue
- Rag or paper towel
Begin by taking the skeletons off of the jute. I was able to break them off fairly easily, but you can use scissors or a craft knife too.
Next, hot glue the skeletons to the candlesticks. I started by gluing their feet to the bottom of the candlestick and then added more glue to their ribs, hands, and skulls.
Then, use a rag or paper towel to add some paint or wax to the candlestick and the skeletons and wipe off any excess.
Finally, add the candles to the candlesticks. I tilted the burning candle over the candlestick and let the wax drip into the holder. This helped secure the candles in the candlesticks.
These spooky candlesticks are perfect in the barn, and it truly took longer to write this post than it did to make them!
If you enjoyed this DIY Halloween post, you will enjoy these too!
