I’m continuing to celebrate National Ice Cream Month with a simple and delicious coffee dessert. My boys all love coffee and three of the four of them have worked or do work at a very popular national coffee chain. They also really love ice cream, so this easy affogato recipe is the perfect treat for them all year long.
If you decide to make a purchase through my links, I will be paid a small commission for it. This doesn’t cost you anything additional.

We all love ice cream and ice cream treats. And, I have shared tons of recipes. This homemade ice cream recipe is one of our favorites, especially paired with warm cookies!

Easy Affogato Recipe
So, what is affogato? Affogato is an Italian coffee based dessert. Affogato al caffe is literally translated to drowned in coffee. It is traditionally made with simple vanilla ice cream or gelato with hot espresso poured on top.
This recipe is literally that simple too. You can make it with premade and warmed espresso or coffee concentrate, or you can make a fresh cup of espresso. We have an inexpensive espresso machine, and the boys bring home coffee from work, so I make it fresh. But, then, I add a spoonful of caramel to the cup, and oh.my.goodness! It really does add such a delicious flavor.
You can make this with any type of ice cream you choose, but we don’t care for it with soft serve or heavily flavored ice cream.
If you enjoyed this recipe, you will love these too!
