Simple Kentucky Derby Straws
If you decide to make a purchase through my links, I will be paid a small commission for it. This doesn’t cost you anything additional. These commissions help to keep the rest of my content free, so thank you!
I have always wanted to attend the Kentucky Derby, it is totally a bucket list trip, fancy hat and all. I generally don’t even watch any race but the KY Derby. Each year on the Friday before the Derby Race, we watch Secretariat, then on race day, we tune in to catch the race. This year, I pulled out my Cricut (who am I kidding, that machine is never put away) and made some fun and simple Kentucky Derby straws and finger puppets.
These straws were literally so simple they took just a few minutes to make.
Supplies:
Paper
Foam Mounting Squares
Paper Straws
Tape
In Design Space, find a horse and some fancy hats that you love. I scaled my images to 1” – ish big and flattened them so I could print and cut. Then I sent it to the Cricut. Before I sent it to print, I adjusted the project copies to 4 each. Then I was ready to print and cut it. Once all the pieces were cut, I added a foam mounting square to the straws and stuck the pieces onto the straws. That’s it, literally, that is all!
Next, in Design Space, search horse finger puppet, there are a ton of super cute finger puppets, but for the Derby, a horse was all we needed. Select the quantity you want cut, and then send it to your Cricut to cut. Use tape to hold the ends together. And, again, it is *that* easy!
Super cute, and ready for the Kentucky Derby in just a few minutes!
