Piñata Party Favor DIY. When my oldest and youngest sons were about three, they each begged me for a piñata for their birthday parties. However, when it was time to smash their piñatas at the party, they each cried hysterically, and I had to carefully open them up and get the candy out with out damaging their (now) beloved piñata! We still have our youngest son’s home made Mr. Potato Head piñata, proudly displayed on his dresser…for 8 years! My little one just turned 10 two weeks ago, and he, again, asked for piñatas for his birthday…though, this time, he asked for the mini ones from Target for each child in his class…all 24! Clearly, that was not a viable option, so we compromised and made piñata style party favors for his classmates.
Supplies:
Lawn Fawn Year Seven Die and Stamp
Tissue Paper Strips
Scissors
Stamp Pad
Washi Tape
Clear Box or other favor box
Begin by cutting out as many Lawn Fawn Year Seven Piñatas and candies as you will need using your Sizzix and the Sizzix Sandwich Method; Magnetic Pad, cutting pad, paper, die, cutting pad. Then, stamp each one to give them definition. Run through the Xyron Sticker Maker and set aside.Measure tissue paper (or crepe paper) to the width and perimeter length of your favor box. Cut fringe. I used three layers of two colors, but you could use more colors if you want. Using your Xyron Tape Runner, add a layer of adhesive around the box, and apply the fringe tissue paper. Repeat, slightly overlapping each layer. Cover the top layer edge with washi tape.
Fill the box with candies, I used my son’s favorite, Chocolate Caramel Creams, and seal the box with a strip of adhesive from your Xyron Tape Runner. Embellish with piñatas and candies. My son was so excited to be able to give out these fun DIY Piñata Party Favors to his classmates!
