Marshmallow Hot Cocoa Mug DIY

BellaGrey Designs shared the most adorable Hot Cocoa Bar (0n the cover of the Winter 2015 issue of Everyday Party Magazine) for the last issue of EPM. I instantly fell in love with the entire party, but the tiny marshmallow cocoa mugs, I was smitten! Jennifer was gracious enough to share the step by step instructions for the Marshmallow Hot Cocoa Mug DIY with us!

A few months ago, I shared our Simple Hot Cocoa Bar with all the trimmings. Today, I want to share with you how to make these super easy and very yummy Marshmallow Hot Cocoa Mugs.

These mini Marshmallow Hot Cocoa Mugs are not only cute, but oh so good to eat!

Here is what you will need:

Jumbo Marshmallows

Chocolate Chips

Mini Candy Canes

Mallow Bits

Depending on how many Marshmallow Hot Cocoa Mugs you are making, will depend on how much chocolate chips you will need. I made 18 and used 1 1/2 cups chips.

1) In a glass bowl, pour out your Chocolate Chips and place the bowl in the microwave until chips are melting, {about 45 seconds} be careful not to burn the chips. So watch them carefully.

2) Once the chocolate chips have started to melt, take the bowl out of the microwave and stir the chips until they are fully melted like this.

3) Now the fun starts! Take one of the jumbo marshmallows and dip one end into the melted chocolate.

I like to swirl my chocolate on top, simply by twisting the marshmallow around.

4) Once the top is covered in chocolate, you can add the Mallow Bits to the top to make it look like hot cocoa.

5) Break off the “hook” part of the mini candy canes, these will be the handle of the mug.

6) Next, you will need a toothpick to insert into the side of the marshmallow to add the candy cane handle. TIP: dip the toothpick in water to help it slide into the marshmallow easier.

7) Insert the “handle” into the side of the marshmallow.

8) And there you have it ~ your very own mini Marshmallow Hot Cocoa Mug!

Now you can display them on your Hot Cocoa Bar or serve them as is, either way they will be a HUGE hit at your next party or just with your kids! *wink*
