Americana Sign DIY with Cricut
Americana Sign DIY. One of my very favorite summer decorations is a vintage 48 star American Flag. I hang it above my fire place mantel, and I love it! But, the mantel itself needs some help…it’s not my favorite, and I sometimes struggle to decorate it…So, I decided to try making a small Americana style sign.
Supplies to make your own Americana Signs:
Basswood 10.5″x10.5″ {2 pieces}
3/8″ Poplar Square {2 pieces}
DeocArt Paint {Red, white, and blue}
Open the Cut File and begin cutting the bass wood. I cut it twice, and glued it together. While the Maker was cutting the basswood, I cut the plywood down to 12″x15″. {about 3″ larger the USA cut all the way around} Then, I cut the poplar square trim pieces to frame the plywood. Since the basswood takes a while to cut, I painted the plywood blue, and the trim frame red.
Once the paint was dry, I distressed the paint some, with my sander. Then, I used my nail gun to attach the frame.
I painted the basswood white, and glued them together, and then on the frame. I used a weight to hold them onto the frame while the glue dried. {Pic above is for the second sign I made}
I have it propped up on fire place mantel, and I so love the way it looks!
