Woodland Centerpiece Candles
Disclosure: This project is being considered for a prize as part of the Cricut Design Space Star Challenge from Cricut. If you would like to pin this project, please pin from here.I am so thrilled to share my very first Cricut Design Space Star Challenge project with you! Cricut chose a Wedding and Celebration theme for this round, my team decided to narrow that broad theme down to Floral & Woodland. I have such a fabulous support team, I am a novice Cricut user, I have only used my friends’ Cricuts before this! I wanted to make something fairly easy, as I wasn’t sure of the learning curve with the Cricut, and I am happy to say that it SUPER easy to use. I made woodland centerpiece candles, and I am just tickled with the end result!
Supplies:
Cricut (if you don’t have a Cricut, you can do this project without it, but it won’t be nearly as simple)
Heart shape from the Cricut store or use your own image
Glass vase(s) from the Dollar Tree
Candle(s)
White or cream colored paper
Printer
Glue stick
Free tree bark PDF download (available below)
Optional: Ball canning jar, flowers, and burlap scraps
Estimated time:
20 minutes
I started this project with a clear idea in my head, I wanted the look of a carved tree branch, but illuminated with candles. Easy, right? I wanted the bark to look real…so, as any crazy normal neighbor would do, I took macro photos of my neighbors trees. I edited the photos in Photoshop and made a 12″x12″ digital scrapbook file to use. I printed it on standard printer paper.
Next, it was time to lay out the hearts and design the cut out heart and initials. Once I had it designed like I wanted it, I placed my paper on the mat and let the Cricut do her thing! SO SIMPLE! The heart with the cut out initials was done in two parts. First, I created the heart and initials in the Cricut Design Space, and cut it out on cream colored parchment paper. Then, using the same heart, only slightly larger, I cut again without the letters on the tree bark paper.
Once the paper was cut, it was time to stick it to the Dollar Tree Vases. I used and Elmer’s Glue stick, over a week ago, and it worked like a champ! Finally, put your favorite candle in the vase and you have an affordable, simple, and beautiful centerpiece. {Shhh, we will be giving these to my in-laws, along with a gift card to dinner for their anniversary later this week} I added a small bouquet of baby’s breath flowers to a Heritage Green Ball Canning Jar with a scrap of burlap tied to the rim. I think a cluster of these would be a fabulous addition to any party table!
Now, I have AWESOME news for you! Cricut has a contest right now!!! Cricut has just announced the second phase of the Cricut– I Made It! contest and this time they’re awarding one winner their own Make it Now(tm) project line to be sold in Cricut Design Space(™)!
