What Whale it Be Baby Shower

To me the summer time is all about the ocean and nautical themes. One of my boys lives in Vineyard Vines clothes. And since I find myself in their stores a lot, I was inspired to style a Whale Baby Shower. This shower is preppy and sweet, and absolutely perfect for any gender reveal or baby shower theme!

Host a Baby Shower or Gender Reveal

I have been dying to host a summer themed baby shower for anyone, but, no one is having babies! So, I styled one I love!

I started with my party theme when I was thinking of decorations, and since I am all about a budget, I DIY’d all of this darling little party. This baby shower can be recreated for about fifteen to twenty guests for just under $200. Make a Backdrop that can be reused

Big impact for low cost can be a challenge sometimes, but I was able to make an adorable preppy whale sign for less than $15! I used a 2×2′ piece of plywood and framed it with 1×1″.

Then, I painted the whole thing white.

Once the white paint was fully dry, I used painter tape to tape off horizontal stripes, and painted the board pink. I removed the painters tape before the paint was fully dry. Once the stripes were dry, I used more painter’s tape to create vertical stripes, and {again} painted the board pink. This created a gingham backdrop.

After the pink paint dried, I sketched a whale similar to the printables and painted it teal. This took several coats of paint.

If this was a baby shower for a real baby, I would have painted the baby’s name under the whale to make a personal gift for the parents to be!

Baby Shower Food

I always bring in food for showers. Sandwich rings are always a big hit and are affordable for a crowd. I also buy store bought dessert treats from the freezer or bakery. The morning of the shower, I cut up fresh fruit and veggies.

The dessert table is filled with color coordinated candies and other treats.
