Surf’s Up Pool Party. I love love love summer parties! The themes are limitless, from Luau to Patriotic, and surf to shark, you could literally have a party every week and not run out of themes! One of my very favorite party themes is surfing. Growing up on Florida’s East Coast, I watched Kelly Slater surf near the pier before he went pro, I wandered through Ron Jon for hours, and just loved it all. I can’t surf at all, but I would love to have a collection of boards!
For this party, I used my backyard space, of course. I grabbed my son and my nephew’s surfboards and propped them on the bar, and I stacked wooden crates around them. A simple white cake was topped with a cute little woody style surf truck. Similar style surf truck boxes pulled double duty as lunch boxes and party favors.
The kids were able to grab their lunch boxes with a cup of carrots and an Uncrustable, and small sand buckets were filled with chips for each kid. I filled drink dispensers with juice. The kids filled their cups with juice and added a fun plastic surf board straw. More sand buckets were filled with fruit flavored candies for the kids. A big jar of salt water taffy was a hit too.
Before everyone left, the kids took home a surf favor box. I filled them with candies, mini surf cars, the shovel for their sand buckets, and diy slime in fun palm tree favor containers. They also grabbed a surfboard lollipop from a jar of DIY sand.
