Mother’s Day Brunch in Paradise
This review is based strictly on my opinion. Others may have a different opinion or experience with the product listed above. I was provided the sample free of charge by the company or PR agency and I have given my honest opinion.Mother’s Day Brunch in Paradise. I was recently contacted by Zazzle to do a post on Mother’s Day. I have to say, I was very excited! I have wanted to try their products for a while, but I just never sat down to look at their enormous catalogue. They make gift giving so simple, there are even suggested Mother’s Day Gift lists!
I decided I wanted to customize gifts for my mom (and my sister) using some of my mom’s photography. I simply uploaded a photo when I was prompted to, made sure it was aligned the way I wanted it, and in a few days, I had amazing Mother’s Day gifts for my mom with her art work on them! Just for fun, I ordered a few World’s Okayest Mom key rings too! So funny. For less than $50, I was able to buy 2 reusable grocery bags and two bottle koozies with my mom’s photo on them, 3 key rings, and an adorable journal from my dear friend Kori Clark’s Zazzle Collection. What a steal, right? Obviously, I chose very personalized gifts, but the options at Zazzle are limitless! They had funny shirts, hats and key rings, among other things. But, they also had more serious gift ideas too. I am a sucker for journals and cookbooks. I love looking back at family handwriting, recipes, and daily events.
I didn’t want to give my mom her gifts in the reusable bag, though, I could have. I printed up the inspiration photo and made gift bags (two copies per bag) and taped them together using my Scotch Tape Runner (seriously, my favorite brand, and they are not paying me to say that…plus they are less than $2 at Target!) and wrapped half a box like I normally would. Once it was taped together around the box, I slid the paper off and creased the folds. Then I used paper ribbon from Pick Your Plum to make the handles. They were perfect, and my mom and sister could not believe that I made them! I used twine from Pick Your Plum to tie the key rings to the handle as a gift tag.
Since my mom, sister, and I rarely have time together without all of our kids and husbands, I invited them both over for brunch. I (again) used my mom’s photo as the inspiration, and had it blown up at a local print shop. I used mounting tape to stick it to a yard stick, and hung it with jute rope. I brought our (not yet planted) palm trees in from the garden, and covered their ugly plastic planters with a folded paper bag, and put them on each side of the table. Brunch was simple. I served citrus infused water, fruit, mini muffins, donuts, egg salad on croissants, and mimosas.
We had a great time together, and both my mom and sister are excited to use their (very) practical Mother’s Day gifts, that have a personal touch to them! And I cannot wait to order more from Zazzle!
