Outdoor Movie Night

Outdoor Movie Night

Outdoor Movie Night on Everyday Party Magazine

Outdoor Movie Night.  I recently hosted an Outdoor Movie Night to celebrate the start of summer.  My kids love having their friends over to watch a movie in the yard, I love being able to chat with friends while our kids play and (eventually) chill late into the evening!  We invited our guests to the party with beautiful invitations from Tiny Prints.  The Stellar Gala invitations were a perfect mix of adult and kid friendly.   Guests were invited to wear pajama casual, and bring a bathing suit if they wanted to swim.

I set up a fun snack station for the guests in the backyard, complete with string lights, wood marquee letters from Ten23 Designs, a popcorn machine, and a candy machine!  Snacks were simple and fun!  Popcorn was served in metal buckets.  Kraft Jet Puffed Marshmallows were bagged in smaller bags for the kids to grab and bring to an adult to roast in the fire pit.  Candy bars and graham crackers were in on the table in the vintage soda crate I borrowed from Nook and Cranny.   When we have a “special” and smaller party, I like to get the glass Coca Cola bottle for the guests.  Everyone loves them, and I like that they are only 8 oz.  I filled our candy machine with skittles, M&M’s, and Reese’s Pieces.  The candy machine came with candy buckets, and the kids enjoyed refilling them over and over again!  Finally, I had the most amazing lollipops from Vintage Confections on the table for the kids. (I used an old license plate to make a box, and stuck the lollipops in floral foam to hold them up)  I cannot even begin to describe how awesome they are!  Since we watched ET, the space themed lollipops were perfect! I also had Kraft food boxes from Nashville Wraps filled with a S’More’s Kit for on the table.  As the guests left, each family took one home.  I made a fun printable tag for the boxes, and stuck them on with a family name sticker from Tiny Prints.  The front of the table had a string of Target Dollar Spot lights, and a SNACK banner from Kristyn’s Kreations.

The parents sat around the fire pit most of the night, lounging in our adirondack chairs with fun “SIT STAY” throw pillows from Tiny Prints on them.  (Can I just say how soft and perfect those pillows are?)  We had a few throw blankets out for the kids and adults to grab, including my new favorite, a soft, and luxurious Herringbone throw that is the perfect size, also from Tiny Prints.  I put some old blankets and pool towels on the grass for the kids, and I added a few Dollar Tree pool floats to the pool for the guests that wanted to float in the pool while they watched the movie.

We played the movie on a canvas sheet hung on our back wall using Command Hooks (though, I see us adding permanent hooks very soon).  I have a tiny projector that works with an iPod, and we used our Polar Party’s Bluetooth to run sound, and add a little more light to our pool deck.  The kids that weren’t in the pool had a blast running under the misters!

Everyone had such a fabulous time at the party, we are already talking about our next one!

Many thanks to all of the amazing vendors that were a part of our celebration!
