Chinese New Year

Happy Chinese New Year! Several years ago, my family was invited to the most over the top amazing, only seen in a movie type of Chinese New Year celebration…it was my first real introduction to a celebration of that magnitude, and I will never forget it! They had real fireworks, a dancing dragon, Chinese acrobats, and Chinese dancers…it was crazy, and awesome!

I try to expose my kids to celebrations of all kinds, with an open mind. But, I also want them to learn, so, I use holidays as teachable moments. This afternoon, we will enjoy Chinese food snacks, read a little about the Chinese New Year celebrations, watch some Youtube videos, and then we will drop off some fortune cookies on our neighbors doors.

2015 is the Year of the Goat. The last cycle for the Year of the Goat was in 2003. Those born during the Year of the Goat are said to be calm and artistic….
