Back Yard Camping Party

I have loved sharing camping party inspiration and ideas all week, and I am SO very excited to share the darling back yard camping party we hosted just for fun this summer! If you know me, my parties have to be quick and easy to set up, and cost very little. This fun back yard camping party fit those criteria and was truly a blast for everyone!

Host a Camping Party

We tend to host a camping themed party every year. Some years we’ve hosted camping birthday parties, other times we just host a camping party for friends because they are so fun! Since I shopped the house and used what we had for this party, I spent a total of $12, not including favors, and we had 12 guests.

Camping Party Decorations

I wanted the party to have a little rustic feel, so I used a lot of plaid fabric for the decorations. I covered a folding table with a buffalo plaid table cloth. Then, I added a strand of popcorn garland and a strand of fabric and pinecone garland to the front of the table.

A tiered tray sat on top of the table. I filled the bottom of the tray with more pinecones, and the top with cotton. The middle tier was full of popcorn to snack on or use in trail mix. I also added a galvanized bucket with fresh hydrangea blooms from my garden to the table.

Next to the table, I set up a simple A-Frame Tent. The kids played in the tent and swam in the “swimming hole” all afternoon.

Camping Party Food

I decided to make the food as simple as possible for myself. I popped a bunch of popcorn for trail mix and snacking, and I added other easy to grab and go snacks.

Bug juice, or Kool Aid, is always a hit at our camping parties, so I made two flavors. There wasn’t a drop left after the party.

Even though our party was just for fun, we had to have a cake. I had the boys help me make the cake and frosting, for the cake. Next, I frosted the cake, and decorated it with chocolate rocks around the base. Then, I made a fun tent cake topper with fabric scraps and bamboo skewers. Finally, I made a campfire with more chocolate rocks, and fruit leather fire.

We have had camping parties nearly every summer for the last 8 years, and I just don’t see us stopping any time soon!
